Moving It Forward

I didn't get a lot of sewing done last week. I spent most of my week enjoying family down south. I'll share more of that later. Prior to our big adventure I finished sewing up these leftovers from my Portals quilt. This quilt features Janet Clair's Ahoy Me Hearties. I thought I had more blocks that I did. I was hoping to make at least a 60" x 70" quilt.
Because it will be a man quilt I knew it had to be long enough so I rearranged the blocks to make it 70" long.
Next I pulled some scraps from my bins to make  the missing two blocks. Cut some strips to add to the width. I think with these adjustments I'll have a nice sized man quilt.
Now on to the fun. My sister and her four children, my sister in law and her four children and me and my daughter all headed down to my parents last week. We had tons of fun climbing red rock.
We did our first slot canyon. And played in grandma and grandpa's pool. The weather was perfect and we had tons of fun.
Hope everyone had a fun week. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've been moving forward. Link up and share.

  4. Great use for your "Ahoy" fabric in both quilts. I love that line as well as the new one. I was thinking of making an ocean waves quilt with It but I really like your Portals pattern. Will have to think that one through...or do both :-)

  5. Wow! I just can't fathom swimming after all the cold we've been experiencing. I'm looking forward to a little warmth again. Since these last few months have been colder than normal I'm guessing the weather will make up for it by becoming blazing hot in the next week or so. Sigh. Nice project to use leftover fabric.

  10. Those pictures have to be in Utah. I bet I was in the same area. There are slot canyons near Gobln Valley. I am thinking specifically of Little Wildhorse Canyon. I am curious as to where you were because I was on the Hole in the Rock trail down by Lake Powell.
