Moving it Forward

I've slowly been working on another set of pineapple blocks. I would have had the linky up sooner but I wanted to finish squaring up these blocks to share.
Surprisingly I'm even making a little head way in my scrappy strips. I might even have to cut a few more before I'm done.
Here are the pretty trimmings. Don't you just love pretty trimmings?
And all my finished pineapple blocks together. I think I'm half way.
Now it's your turn. What are you moving forward this fine Monday? Link up and share.

Fun with Budding Sewists

After a rough start this week has turned out pretty great. Having my mind at ease helped me to concentrate.  So I could bust out the rest of my Color Me Creative sewing accessories. I now have a new journal, (tutorial) zipper pouch, (tutorial) sewing mat, (tutorial) needle case, and pin cushion. I'm looking forward to using them at my next retreat in a few weeks.
Though Wednesday the pin cushion and sewing mat got a test drive. I had six, 12- 13 year old girls show up and help me sew another Quilty Hug. You may remember the pieces I had cut out Monday. Each girl sewed at least one row in this cute little quilt. Didn't they do a lovely job?
In addition to helping me sew they brought me my favorite treats. Yum! It was such a fun night. I hope we will be able to do it again.
This weekend Anna and I will be at the farmer's market. I'm stocked with Pumpkin Spice for the cooling fall weather. I was a little late getting our Spiced Cider made. It will have to wait until next market.  Watch for it and all our other great skin loving soaps in our Etsy Shop.

Lost and Found

I've had a couple of really big scares the last couple of days. First, Monday evening I got a call from my oldest son, Alex's supervisor.  He wanted to know if I knew where my son was. Alex is my adventuring son. I have bear spray in my garage from his last adventure to Glacier National Park. And last summer he let me put tracker on his phone while he rode his motorcycle across the country. So if anything happened I'd know where to send help. So to have him missing was a little disconcerting. I knew he hadn't planned an adventure for last weekend but still. Fortunately he was only home sick and some how his supervisor had not got the message.
Monday I also left a message with a friend who had been taking a few of my quilts around to the various quilt guilds to show for classes I'd be teaching at Utah Quilt Guild's Quilt Fest. So imagine my shock when I found out that she had given them to someone in my guild in July to return to me. I knew in my heart of hearts that they were safe and whoever had them had just been busy. Still, I had a hard time being rational and not worrying myself sick.
I tried to do a little mindless sewing in prep for my class. But those irrational thoughts kept creeping in.  I sent out a group email to the ladies in my guild along with a post on our Facebook page. to see if anyone remembered who took my quilts so I could touch base with them. By the end of the day I had my quilts.

I'm hoping nothing goes missing today. I don't think my nerves can handle it.

Moving it Forward

I'm so excited! I used to work with the young women at my church. I now serve in another capacity. I've missed working with those amazing young ladies. Lucky me on Wednesday they will be coming to my home to make a Quilty Hug. They had told their current leader they wanted to do some kind of service. I told you they are amazing. Their leader asked if there was anything they could do to help with Quilty Hugs. At first I thought they could use my Go cutter along with my neighbors and iron and cut scraps into usable pieces. Then I realized that many of these girls know how to sew. So I cut out a simple quilt for them.
I'm having them make this quilt. I figure there are no seams to match and if someone's seams are a little bigger we can adjust easily and have them feel they did a good job.

In addition to cutting pieces I made a strata with my strips to continue my matching sewing accessories.  Should be able to show you the whole set soon.
Now it's your turn. What are you moving forward? Link up and share.

Solid Creativity

After seeing the great background fabric Sarah used for her table runners, ideas started churning in my head. I've been wanting to do a matched set of sewing accessories; journal, pin cushion, zipper pouch, needle case, etc. So after inquiring where Sarah got said background fabric. I made a purchase and started cutting solid strips to go with it.
I was hoping to show you a set but I got some kind of nasty bug and spent a day on the couch with Netflix. Fortunately the bug was short lived and yesterday I was able to make this little journal cover for a composition book with graph paper in. I found a few at Walmart and stocked up. I like to use them to sketch out blocks and quilt ideas.
Hoping to get a few more of my sewing accessories made today. I'll share my collection when I get them done.

Building Blocks

Yesterday was a first Tuesday so me and my angels got together for a little Quilty Hug sewing. I had four project boxes with pre-cut pieces in various stages of completeness. Shelly chose the scrappy log cabin and added a few more blocks.
Marilyn wanted a little mindless sewing and chose these simple four patches.
I chose these blocks. I would have got a lot more done if I hadn't spent so much time sewing without bobbin thread. GRRR!!!! I was chaining these cuties and did a whole run without bobbin thread. Will I ever learn.
Sue and Ruthie had other obligations and couldn't make it. I'm looking forward to next month I think with all these building blocks we should be able to put a couple of tops together.

Moving It Forward

I cut into my Front Porch fabric. Can I just say I love this fabric. Sheri and Chelsi have quite a talent. They haven't come up with a line yet that I don't just adore. After cutting it into rectangles and squares I started chaining said pieces through my machine.
A day of blissful chaining and I had these units.
What has your blissful sewing brought you this week? Link up and share your progress.
